Energy Healing Techniques That Go Deeper Than Reiki; and Why You’ve Likely Never Tried Them

If you practice Reiki, you probably already know how powerful energy healing can be. You might have felt energetic shifts in your body or felt waves of energy moving. Maybe you’ve experienced a change in your moods or perceptions or experienced dramatic pain relief. Almost certainly, you’ve seen the impact that Reiki can have on others.
But for many practitioners, there can come a time when Reiki doesn’t seem to be enough anymore. The sessions start to feel repetitive, and the outcomes start to feel predictable. The slow-burn soothing of Reiki doesn’t feel quite enough, when what you’re looking for is dramatic, powerful, dynamic shifts. It’s not that Reiki has failed; it’s done what it was designed to do, but now you want more.
At this stage, so many people drift. Reiki has become humdrum, accepted and normalised, so they jump into another healing system and collect more certificates. They forget that what they have with Reiki is beyond description, beyond analysis, miracle-making power that often defies the imagination and so much more sophisticated in its methodology, its conceptual basis and its philosophical orientation than any other energy healing technique out there. So, what’s next? You don’t need to go off looking for something else, another method, another technique. What you have is enough, but you can take it much deeper into territory where Reiki becomes much more powerful. This is because what you were taught was not the whole story. Reiki has always been more than most Reiki teachers and practitioners realise.
The Plateau No One Warns You About
Reiki is an amazing entry point into learning about energy healing techniques. It opens the door to a whole new understanding of the universe and our part in it. It changes lives, often very powerfully or dramatically. But it's also become over-systematised and watered down by commodification and simplified for mass delivery.
What used to be a sacred path of self-discovery has, in many places, become a standard, and I have to say, often quite dreary or sometimes new-age-bizarre wellness add-on.
The result of this? Thousands of people are using energy healing techniques without an understanding of the concepts or the deeper currents behind them. They’re healing surface-level pain (a good thing of course!) but missing the opportunity to completely rewire their inner world.
If you’ve reached the point of feeling that low-grade itch that not only has Reiki become diminished, but that there is actually something more beyond Reiki, you’re right. There is.
Ancient Healing Methods That Don’t Market Themselves
Before Reiki became what it is today, it was part of a larger, ancient set of teachings with genuine texture, depth, intellectual grit; something to really get your teeth into. Something a lot more demanding and a lot less concerned with commercial appeal. A practice and set of teachings much more focused on spiritual awakening as the ultimate outcome of the healing process.
That set of teachings is now called ‘Buddho’ or sometimes ‘Buddho EnerSense’.
Most people have never heard of it, and this is a good thing, given the new-age Reiki communities’ penchant for trashing their practice. You won’t find it on a Top 10 list or in a YouTube tutorial. That’s because it was never meant for mass adoption. It was passed from teacher to student, refined in monasteries over the millennia, practised in silence, and anchored in personal responsibility and dedication. It’s not a shortcut. Reiki is the shortcut. Buddho is a calling.
Buddho doesn’t replace Reiki, however. What it does is deepen it. It takes you beyond the humdrum plateau that you might be experiencing in your Reiki practice. It teaches you to cultivate, store and use internal energy in a way that reshapes your relationship with your body, your mind, and your environment. It connects meditation and movement with healing and mindful presence. As an advanced energy healing technique, Buddho transcends Reiki by an order of magnitude. The reality is that Reiki is a derivative of Buddho. Buddho comes before and goes beyond the limitations of the Reiki system.
Buddho Is Not Something You Learn; It’s Something You Practise

Buddho isn’t about understanding something new. It’s an experiential practice. You won’t ‘figure it out’ by reading about it or thinking about it harder. Like it’s offspring, Reiki, it’s something you have to engage with. But more than Reiki, it requires solo work away from the confines of giving treatments.
It’s a discipline you have to return to again and again. And as you practise, it changes how you see yourself, how you relate to your body, and how you move through the world. It deepens your awareness; it will take you beyond the confines of your own mind. It builds internal strength. And over time, it will reshape your inner state profoundly.
That’s what sets it apart.
In a world obsessed with speed, Buddho is slow. In a culture that wants hacks and instant results, it demands commitment. But for those who feel ready, it offers a kind of power that’s impossible to explain, and impossible to ignore once felt. Buddho is transformative beyond anything else I’ve ever practiced within the realms of secular healing methods.
Although Buddho points directly to its origins with Buddhist thought and teaching, it is most definitely a secular practice, able to be used by anyone regardless of their spiritual or religious affiliations.
So, What Now?
If your Reiki practice feels stuck, or a bit ‘samey’ and humdrum and you want something to rev it all up again, Buddho could be what you are looking for.
If you’re still focusing on Reiki as just an energy healing thing, well, you haven’t explored it all in any case – Reiki is much more than that. But even if that is all you are looking for (why??!!), Buddho will transform even that aspect of the system and turn it into a much more fluidly sophisticated practice.
Maybe it’s time to get out of your comfort zone? Buddho will take you to places in this practice you didn’t even know were possible.
I work with people who want more than spiritual soundbites. People who are ready to do the work and make the commitment. People who want to wake up, not just get healed. If that’s you, let’s talk.
